Do not play this piece fast. It is never right to play Ragtime fast.
— Scott Joplin

We are collecting MIDI recordings of Joplin's piano works for playback on computer-controlled pianos such as the Yamaha Disklavier and/or synthesizers, as well as academic papers about Joplin's life, times, and music. We also welcome Joplin-inspired compositions and improvisations.

The Piano Works Archive will have one performance of each of Joplin's works. One of the purposes of the Archive is to serve as a repository for recordings that can be incorporated into concerts of Joplin's works on piano works on Disklavier up through April 1st, 2018. As soon as a recording is added to the Archive it will show up as available for listening. Those without the "[ listen ]" label are still open for submissions.

The other purpose of the Archive is to allow visitors to listen to audio versions of the MIDI performances, which we will render using the Garritan CFX Concert Grand Virtual Piano instrument.

You may also submit a MIDI recording for consideration for the Disklavier Education Network Signature MIDI Collection. Multiple performances of the same composition are allowed there.

Please check the Frequently Asked Questions page for technical information.
